Indigenous Territory Acknowledgement
We acknowledge that SFPIRG is located on unceded Indigenous land belonging to the Coast Salish peoples. Based on our current knowledge*, this includes the territories of the Musqueam, Skxwú7mesh-ulh Úxwumixw (pronounced Squamish or Skohomish), Stó:lo & Tsleil-Waututh (pronounced: slay-wa-tooth, aka Burrard) nations.
Today, most of BC remains unceded sovereign Native lands, over which neither the Canadian or BC governments have the legal or moral authority to govern.
Here at SFPIRG, we are working towards better understanding how we can support Indigenous sovereignty as settlers on this land.
(* If we have it wrong or you know more information about whose land we're on, please contact us at outreach@sfpirg.ca. Thank you.)
